Conference 2017

 

The 2017 biennial MHSA Conference held in South Australia was a joint effort by the South Australian Branch in partnership with the University Of South Australia’s Narratives of War (NOW).  This combined conference with the theme of “Generations of War” embraced not only World War 1 but a century of service by the nation’s armed forces. This was conducted at the University’s City West Campus in Adelaide on 17-19 November 2017.

The Federal President of the Military Historical Society of Australia, Mr Rohan Goyne, sent the following comments to organisers of the conference soon after the conference:

Hello Mike, Paul and SA Branch Colleagues

I must congratulate the SA Branch of the Society for its role in delivering a great joint conference with the University of SA. The depth and breath of the speaker program which had at one stage three parallel sessions was truly impressive. I recall asking Paul and Tony Harris in 2015 about the willingness of the SA Branch to host the next conference for the Society and I was pleased that the idea was not immediately dismissed and indeed the conference last weekend sets a new standard for future MHSA Conferences through a networked and collaborative approach with other partners which Federal Council has been pursuing for the past five years.
