Federal Vice-President

Richard Pelvin

Born in Melbourne, Ric Pelvin joined the Defence Department in 1969 and moved to Canberra in 1972, working in a number of areas of the Department, including ten years in the historical sections of the Army and Navy. From 1997 to 2002 he was Curator of Official Records at the Australian War Memorial. He is now an independent military researcher and has published a number of articles and papers on military, naval and aviation history. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Monash University and a Master of Defence Studies from the University of New South Wales. Hardie Grant Books has published ANZAC. An Illustrated History 1914-1918 in 2004 and Second World War. A Generation of Australian Heroes. An Illustrated History 1939-1945 in 2005. His third book in the series ­ an illustrated history of Australia's involvement in the Vietnam War­ will be published in 2006.

Ric joined the ACT Branch of the Military Historical Society in 2003. He became Federal Vice- President in 2004.
