Federal PresidentMajor Robert Morrison, RFDMajor Morrison enlisted in the Citizen Military Forces (CMF) as a gunner with the 2nd Field Regiment Royal Australian Artillery in May 1963. He was commissioned into the same Regiment in 1968, and then served in a number of regimental postings with 3rd Field Regiment before being attached, on full time duty, to 4th Field Regiment in South Viet Nam during 1970. On his return to Australia he served with 13th Field Regiment and after the reorganisation of the CMF into the Army Reserve was one of the first Reserve Officers to be posted to 16 Air Defence Regiment (Light) as part of that Regiment’s integration. Whilst attending the BBC production school in the UK during 1977/78 he was attached to the 5th Battalion the Queens Regiment TAVR. In 1979 Major Morrison transferred to the Royal Australian Armoured Corps and was posted to A Squadron 8/13 Victorian Mounted Rifles. He assumed command of the Squadron in 1988 on promotion to Major, relinquishing command in June 1991. He then held a number of Army Reserve staff positions with HQ 4 Brigade, the Army Logistic Training Centre, and Army History Unit until 2000 when he was posted as Staff Officer Grade 2 Media Support, Headquarters Royal Military College of Australia. In civilian life Robert Morrison pursued a career in the electronic media having worked at Radio and Television Stations in Perth, and Adelaide, before moving to Albury where he spent 22 years as a producer/presenter with AMV4, later PRIME Television Albury. He is now semi retired and has lived in Canberra since 2000. In 1999 he commenced work on the Army Centenary Project The Warrior Poets 1901 – 2001 an Anthology. This Army History Unit publication was launched to coincide with the Army Centenary in 2001. Over the years the Army has called on his civilian skills as Master of Ceremonies, including the presentation of the Standard to 1st Armoured Regiment, Guidons to 2nd Cavalry Regiment and 1st/15th RNSWL, Corps Banners to RAAOC, RAEME, RACT, AACC, and AA Int, Army Display and Fair, Area Open Days, the Australian tour of Army Tattoo 88, Royal Military College Duntroon and the Australian Defence Force Academy Parades, and the Army Centenary Parade. Major Robert Morrison is a long standing member of the Society. He joined the Albury-Wodonga Branch in 1979 and transferred to the ACT Branch in 2000.
